Wilbur and Orville Wright worked in their bicycle shop while researching, designing and building the world’s first machine powered plane capable of continuous, sustainable and controllable flight. It took two years but in 1905 their invention was launched in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina and modern day aviation was born.
The city is named after Captain Jonathan Dayton, a great leader who rallied his troops during the American Revolutionary War whose signature appears on the Declaration of Independence.
Today, Dayton offers all the charm of a small town with the conveniences of a larger city. Sitting between Springfield to the northeast and Cincinnati to the southwest, Dayton is flanked by the two larger cities allowing for easy access to big city excitement.
